Are We Promoting a Civil War?

Powell urges Abbas to fight terrorists

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has said he expects Palestinian President-elect Mahmoud Abbas to fight terrorist groups opposed to peace with Israel.

In an interview on Fox News, released by the State Department Wednesday, Powell defended President Bush's decision to invite Abbas to the White House, although the president had never invited the deceased Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

"President Bush stood up alongside of him (Abbas) in the region and blessed the 'road map' with him and with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel. So we know him well," said Powell.

Powell said now that the Palestinian election campaign is over, Abbas has to "take a stronger position" against terrorist groups.

"But more than just take a position, he has to fight against those forces within the Palestinian community that still think there is a role for terrorism," said Powell.

"And if he does that, then the United States will be able to support him and he'll find that Israel can be a partner for peace with him as well."

So now we are promoting a civil war?

"And if he does that, then the United States will be able to support him and he'll find that Israel can be a partner for peace with him as well."

"But more than just take a position, he has to fight against those forces within the Palestinian community that still think there is a role for terrorism," said Powell.

How dare we promote such an internal blood bath as this would mandate? Such asinine arrogance..... how dare we?

These people have suffered unspeakably from Israeli aggression and no one said a word about the breaking of Geneva Conventions or International Law. Oppression, occupation, and deprivation have created an Intifada. It was not terrorism that brought the IDF into Palestine but occupation that took suicide bombs, RPGs, and Kassam rockets into Israel. The continual humiliation of an entire group of people combined with unspeakable cruelty has forced some sort of response. The response was predictably violent.

Now America wants to create a civil war to top off the suffering and disenfranchising of an entire population group. Perhaps Powell should have a few days up close with the IDF. Let them shoot at him, bulldoze his home, cut off his food supply, cut off his water, dig up his sewer lines so he can get a good whiff, put him under house arrest and call it curfew, if he or a family member get sick...shoot at the ambulance that would try to take him to medical care, keep him awake all night with bombs and missiles, shoot at him if he steps out of the door of his home ..... in general treat him like a Palestinian and see if he isn't ready to retaliate especially after his family and children are shot, blown up, starved, as well as humiliated, imprisoned without charges and torture is the natural expected treatment.

Or perhaps our foreign policy makers/none policy...policy makers should spend a 30 day sabbatical living in a refugee camp in Gaza. Sneak them in incognito so it will be a real experience. Of course they really need 57 years not 30 days.... but 30 days would give a fair taste of the reality in that place. About day 20-25 Hamas should set up a recruiting center with ski masks, printed head bands, and an assortment of weapons. I'd like to see how many takers there would be if they forgot it was going to end in just a few more days....if they survive that long.

In December 2004 in just 18 days in the refugee camp of Kahn Younis the dead were 27 citizens of all ages, males and females; they saw 110 wounded of the same demographic group; and 113 homes either totally destroyed or so damaged they were left uninhabitable. About 1,000 people were made homeless in that period of time.

Mr. Powel thank God it is not your neighborhood in such dire straight. But you need to consider what you are promoting. That refugee camp of Kahn Younis is my husband’s home or was until mid December. He has nothing now but the clothing he was wearing when his home, then with in days his sisters home was destroyed. He is sleeping out in the open of the countryside with nothing. Winter.. no coat.. no blanket.. no food.. no hope and you want to promote a civil war on top of this.

Too bad you won't promote for others what I'm sure you want for yourself. We all want acceptance, love, shelter, food, clothing, jobs, opportunities,.. hope.

This is a man who reads, writes, and speaks six languages. He was recently accepted to a Colorado Law School. He has an IQ of over 180 but tonight he sleeps on the ground and doesn't know when he will have another meal. And you want to put him in the middle of a civil war? As a minister of the Gospel I am commanded to pray for you and forgive you.... but to tell you the truth... I'll have to pray about that for a while before I can do it.

IF, if, that big little word.. If he dies in such a conflagration sir you will be guilty of murder. Mass murder. Solicitation of murder at the very least. That would be a 1st degree felony murder with possible capital punishment in our "land of the free".

Have a happy life sir.
